Competitions
As all other artists I also like to challenge myself. I create mainly with bead embroidery technique.
These artifacts are following the rules of the particular competition for which they were made – both in their topics, their technical requirements and in the used materials.
- Kalocsa style embroidered set.
The Déry Museum in Debrecen announced a competition in 2023 for modern, wearable jewelry using the rich folk motif heredity.
For me the Kalocsa style embroidery technique meant so much because of my Grandmother, who used to teach me to create Kalocsa style embroidered tablecloths when I was a young girl. So when I read the announcement, I decided to dedicate a whole collection of embroidered jewelry in Kalocsa style. The whole piece follows the bright vivid colors of the original Kalocsa style flowers, which are represented only with Preciosa seedbeads, French wire and some pressed round beads.
The set received the Special Price in the competition.
- Beading Festival Prague, 2024.
For the Competition in May I created my first embroidered handbag, which was created around the metal frame. During the creation procedure I used my favorite materials, the stone cabochons, crystals, and the lovely seedbeads of all kind to create that bag which has the name of Amethyst Teal paradise. The bag is wearable and suitable for everyday use, too, whith is clutch, its lace strap and the beautiful lining and inner pocket.
The handbad was selected among the top 20.
Madame de Pompadour neckpiece
I was always fascinated by the rococo style, is richness, the faded, pastel colors and the decadency of that area. I dedicated this embroidered neckpiece to one of the most influential female beauties, Madame de Pompadour. The neckpiece uses an epoxy cameo in the focal and is decorated with crystals, freshwater pearls, tekla beads and seedbead of all kid.
The neckpiece was selected among the top 20.
- Battle of the Beadsmith 2024: Waiting for the spring
In this embroidered creation was inspired by the winter’s forest scenes. I was always amazed by the gracefulness of the snow-covered pine trees with their evergreen canopy. The cold, the silence of the forest reminded me of that how tough this season is for those creatures who have to survive in the winter forest. The squirrels are of the few mammals that populate this white-covered habitat.
The neckpiece depicts that moment when the first ray of hope of melting, of the coming Spring appears on the horizon of the winter pine-tree forest.
The neckpiece combines the softness of the sibori silk ribbon with the sea of the thousands of seedbeads and the hard, sharp forms of the bicones and crystals, representing the hardness and toughness of the winter and the ice.
The piece got into the second round of the competition.
- Beading festival Prague 2025
This year the Festival announced two competitions. The one sponsored by the BCV glass I have created a black-silver necklace decorated with many beaded beads, special Czech beads and fringes.
The piece was selected among the top 20.
For the other competition sponsored by Les Perles par Puca beads, created my second beaded bag: a fun backpack. The whole design uses the beautiful, colorful mandalas depicted on the canvas I found in a haberdashery store years ago.
For the outmost comfort did I decorate the front side of the bag with literally thousands of seedbeads, bugle beads, form beads and sequins.
The whole bag was sewn partly with sewing machine, partly by hands. The result is a perfectly useable backpack with beautiful lining, outer and inner pockets, comfortable backing and shoulder straps.
- Beadsmith duett beads’ challenge 2025
I had the opportunity to take part in a very special challenge: to create something spectacular of the two colored, the duett Czech two hole-beads.
I created the fascinating Flamenco beaded set of the black-red gemduo beads: a bracelet, a pair of earrings and a beaded beads’ necklace.
The Nib-Bit beads were also very exciting challenge of which I created the Stonehenge neckpiece with bead embroidery technique using three excellently carved stone cabochons.
The green-white Nib-Bit beads resulted an exciting, spectacular bracelet using crystals, bicone beads and a beautiful metal clasp.
Toho Challenge 2025
I have always wanted to take part in this challenge – it is not a competition becaue there are no winners, just partakers. This year the main theam was the Sunset in the sonoran desert. The deep, glowing warmth of the sand and the sunlit rocks inspired the ladscape which I created on the front side of the bag. The other art were created from calfskin. The whole bad is lined with crimson silk.
